Grindeanu: We did not enter this government as ficus

PSD leader Sorin Grindeanu declared on Sunday evening, on Antena 3, about the misunderstandings in the coalition on the draft state budget for 2026, that Ilie Bolojan “is the president of the PNL, but he is also prime minister with PSD votes”, adding that “PSD did not enter this government as a ficus”. Grindeanu also claimed that “we have a right-wing budget, made in the image and likeness of Bolojan”.
“The decision we made today at the National Political Council is important, the fact that we will vote for this budget, but under our conditions, not Mr. Bolojan's. Today we have a right-wing budget, made in the image and likeness of Mr. Bolojan, a budget that (…) ultimately takes care of the rich, but does not protect ordinary people at all,” said Grindeanu, according to News.ro.
The head of the PSD insisted that his party represents around 46% of the weight of the governing coalition. “Mr. Bolojan is the president of the PNL, but he is also the prime minister with PSD votes. So, here we should also discuss the weight that left-wing, social-democratic policies have in the government,” Grindeanu pointed out.
He says that “here are not the wishes of the PSD”. “After all, we didn't enter this government as a ficus, but to make sure that Romanians are protected. And now, the solidarity package is our priority.”
“I have seen in these nine months, not only myself, but also my colleagues, something that I did not like, namely the fact that we have a prime minister who addressed non-stop and made exclusively right-wing policies non-stop. If it was only a right-wing government, a government that would only protect multinationals, rich people, I would understand. As long as the PSD represents almost half of this coalition, I would have expected more attention to be paid to the proposals that the PSD has”, mentioned the PSD president.
