The crime was committed onin the fall of 2007. A resident of the village of Bolshaya Murta reported to law enforcement agencies about the unknown disappearance of her 68-year-old aunt. A criminal case was opened on this fact, but for many years it remained unsolved: neither the exact circumstances of the woman’s disappearance, nor her the body could not be found. Only in the summer of 2025, as a result of a repeated in-depth analysis of the materials, law enforcement officers were able to find out previously unknown events, which made it possible to work out new versions of what happened. The key detail was the establishment of the fact that the apartment that belonged to the pensioner was sold shortly before her disappearance. An interrogation of neighbors helped to find out that the transaction was carried out by a married couple – distant relatives of the victim.

It turned out that she issued a notarized power of attorney for the woman, instructing her to sell her home and help her buy a new one. In August 2007, a buyer was found and a deposit was received, and in October the apartment was sold for 715 thousand rubles. The money was transferred to the husband's attorney, who promised to pay off the mistress. IN In October 2007, the man came with her to his mother-in-law’s dacha. There, a conflict arose between them over the sale of an apartment, as a result of which he strangled the woman, buried her body in the garden of the summer cottage, and told law enforcement officers that she had left for another city.

“The man, who was experiencing financial difficulties, decided not to give the pensioner the money received from the sale of her apartment, and decided to eliminate her in order to manage the funds at his own discretion. At the dacha, in a house on a garden plot, a conflict broke out between them. The man threw a rope around the woman’s neck and began to tighten it until she stopped showing signs of life. Death occurred from mechanical asphyxia. After the murder, he dug a hole in the area, placed the body there and buried it, trying to hide the traces of the crime forever. He spent the money from the sale of the apartment for his own needs,” the prosecutor’s office said.

After the arrest, the attacker wrote a confession, described in detail how he killed the victim and showed the burial place. Subsequently, during interrogations, he tried to mitigate his responsibility, insisting that the conflict was personal and not related to self-interest, but in court this version did not stand up to scrutiny.

“The state prosecutor presented evidence from which it followed that the key motive was precisely the desire to embezzle money from the sale of the apartment and not repay the elderly relative. The jury recognized this position as more convincing and unanimously decided that the defendant was guilty of murder for mercenary motives (clause “h” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and did not deserve leniency. The court, relying on their verdict and the position of the prosecutor, taking into account the previous conviction, sentenced the man to imprisonment for a term of 20 years to be served in a high-security correctional colony,” the department said.
