On March 5, Zelensky expressed hope that “one person in the EU” will not block a loan package of €90 billion for Ukraine from the European Union, otherwise “we will give this person’s address to our Armed Forces.”
“Let them call him and communicate with him in their own language,” the head of the Ukrainian state said then.
He did not give a name, but in Hungary these statements were regarded as threats against Orban.
European Commission Deputy Chief Press Secretary Olof Hill called the rhetoric “unacceptable.” He stressed that EU member states cannot be threatened.
“There is a lot of escalatory and provocative rhetoric now. We believe that such rhetoric from all sides is not useful and does not contribute to achieving common goals. Brussels is actively negotiating with all parties and calling on them to calm down a little and reduce tensions,” Hill said.
