A man was taken by the police for questioning at Section 18 in Bucharest, Friday evening, after he was accused by a doctor from the “Marius Nasta” Institute of threatening her with death, judicial sources told News.ro.

The doctor complained to the Police that she was threatened with death by the relative of a patient who died in the Pneumology Department.

She claimed that she was called on the hospital phone by a man who introduced himself as the deceased patient's brother and who told her that he would go to the hospital to kill her, because he had nothing left to lose and could go to prison, according to News.ro sources.

The police started the investigation and noticed that the man was planning to go to the hospital. The police took him to the 18th Precinct for questioning.

Incidents in hospitals

On February 20, several relatives of a patient in serious condition entered the Emergency Department at the Borșa Recovery Hospital, and one of them beat up a doctor, destroying his glasses, according to Somesanul.ro.

According to the local publication, the anesthesiologist, who came from Bistrita to provide security, was attacked while trying to resuscitate the patient in cardio-respiratory arrest.

A few days ago, on February 16, a female doctor was assaulted by the relatives of a patient she was trying to stabilize, at the Emergency Reception Unit of Târgu Jiu County Hospital.

“Such situations have always been in hospitals in Romania. I also remember, when I was in Timișoara it happened once. It's about education. You realize how embarrassing it is that in 2026, the Minister of Health or Raed Arafat would appear publicly on television and ask people not to attack doctors”, said the Minister of Health, Alexandru Rogobete, on February 21, at Digi24.
