Unanimous decision in the UDMR regarding the governance of Bolojan. Today, the party also established Hunor's approach to the meeting with Magyar in Budapest

The UDMR ministers will not withdraw from the Bolojan Government, and the parliamentarians of the formation will not vote a motion of censure against this Executive, the leaders of the Union decided, unanimously, in a meeting on Friday. Regarding the Hungarian election results, Kelemen Hunor has been mandated to go to Budapest next week to talk with Peter Magyar, the country's future prime minister, to establish a working relationship with the new Hungarian leadership.

The UDMR meeting took place on Friday in the context of the expected political crisis, if the PSD decides to withdraw political support for Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and the withdrawal of social democratic ministers from the government.

Another important topic on the agenda of the UDMR leaders was the Hungarian elections, in which their main ally, Viktor Orban, was defeated.

“The Permanent Council decided that it is in the major interest of the Hungarian community in Romania that the UDMR has a good relationship with the Government of Hungary, regardless of the ruling party. In this sense, we unanimously mandated Kelemen Hunor to hold talks with the future prime minister of Hungary in Budapest next week,” one of the leaders of the UDMR, deputy Csoma Botond, told HotNews.

It is not clear when Kelemen Hunor and Peter Magyar will meet next week: “It also depends on what discussions will be held in Bucharest, because we must be present in Bucharest if there will be talks in the coalition or if Nicușor Dan summons the leaders of the coalition to the talks”.

“We do not withdraw our ministers”

The UDMR decided, also unanimously, that the president of the formation should “manage the possible government crisis within the governing coalition”.

“As far as I understand, colleagues from the PSD will go in the direction of the withdrawal of the ministers from the Government”, declared Csoma Botond.

“We are not withdrawing our ministers, I told you, we are not umbilically tied to either the PSD or the PNL. We want stability, for this form of government to continue, but surely now it will matter what conclusion they reach or what compromise they can reach, if they can, the colleagues from the PNL and PSD”, explained the deputy.

“I think we will not support any censure motion”

Asked by HotNews if this means automatically and that the UDMR will not vote a motion of censure in Parliament against Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan, Csoma Botond explained that during the meeting on Friday the leaders of the formation did not “discuss this very technical aspect of the motion of censure”.

“But considering that we want stability and do not position ourselves against the present government, I believe that we will not support any motion of censure. If we do not withdraw our ministers, we will not support any motion of censure against the Government”, declared Csoma Botond.

He also said that the UDMR is willing to renegotiate the positions in the coalition, if the conclusion is reached that the current parties in the government formula (PSD, PNL, USR, UDMR, National Minorities) come to the conclusion that a government can be restored that starts “from scratch”.

UDMR has two ministers in the current government (Cseke Attila – for Development and Andras Demeter – for Culture) and a deputy prime minister, in the person of Tanczos Barna.
