A record punishment for the porn giant. The British had no mercy

British media regulator Ofcom on Monday imposed a fine of 1.35 million pounds on the pornography company 8579 LLC for failing to verify age and an additional fine of 50,000. pounds for failing to respond to a request for information.

This is the highest fine ever imposed by Ofcom for the lack of safeguards on pornographic websites to prevent children from accessing them.

Pursuant to the Internet Safety Act, websites that host pornographic materials must use highly effective age protection measures to prevent children from easily accessing this content.

Within days of this obligation coming into force in July 2025, Ofcom launched investigations into the providers of dozens of adult websites, including 8579 LLC.

Ofcom said in a statement that if 8579 LLC does not immediately implement highly effective age safeguards, it will have to pay an additional £1,000 for each day of delay and will be subject to a fine of £250 per day until it provides the requested explanations. (PAP)
