Surprising response to the Medical Legion. Ministry of National Defense on the scale of applications for the project


The Medical Legion was established at the beginning of this year. The program aims to prepare civilian medical and paramedical staff to act in crisis situations, such as wars or natural disasters.

According to information from “Rzeczpospolita”, interest in the project exceeded the organizers' expectations. By February 17, almost 750 people representing various medical professions had submitted applications.
The largest group of volunteers are paramedics who sent 163 application forms. The volunteers also included nurses and midwives (116 applications), doctors (104), physiotherapists (49), pharmacists (18) and laboratory diagnosticians (17).. Medical and pharmaceutical technicians and dental assistants also joined the Legion.
— We expected that the project would receive a positive response, but we did not expect that the interest would be so great in the first days. It turns out that the demand for this type of activity is significant, Col. Arkadiusz Kosowski, director of the Department of Military Health Service at the Ministry of National Defense, told “Rzeczpospolita”.

The Medical Legion is a response to the growing needs in preparing medical staff to operate in extreme conditions. The project is of a civilian nature and its participants will be trained in medical activities in crisis situations, which may prove crucial in the face of global challenges.
