Earthquake of intensity III in Romania, Thursday evening. In which cities was it felt?

An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 occurred on Thursday evening in the Vrancea seismic zone, according to official data sent by the authorities.
“On February 26, 2026 at 19:21:52 (Romanian local time), a moderate earthquake of magnitude ml 4.5 occurred in the Vrancea seismic zone, Vrancea, at a depth of 107.9 km. Intensity: III,” the National Research and Development Institute for Earth Physics reported.
The INFP states that the earthquake occurred near the following cities:
- 35km west of Focșani,
- 70km North of Buzau,
- 74km East of Sfântu-Gheorghe,
- 88km South-West of Bârlad,
- 88km South of Bacău,
- 89km East of Brașov.
This is the most important earthquake of the last year, given that the largest earthquakes of 2025, both with a magnitude of 4.4, took place on February 13, in Buzău County, and on May 11, in Vrancea County.
At 20:52:46, another earthquake occurred in Romania.
According to the INFP, the earthquake had a magnitude of 3.3 and occurred in Dobrogea, Tulcea county, at a depth of 3 km.
The earthquake occurred near Tulcea, Constanța, Brăila and Galați.

October 22 – An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.2 occurred at 10:23 a.m. in the Vrancea seismic zone. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 89.9 kilometers, near the following cities: 39 km west of Focșani, 72 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 75 km north of Buzău.
October 15 – A moderate earthquake with magnitude 4 occurred at 7:57 a.m. in Satu Mare county. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 3.1 kilometers, near the following cities: 16 km east of Satu Mare, 39 km west of Baia Mare, 65 km north of Zalău.
August 22 – An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 occurred on August 22, 2025, at 2:18 p.m., in Gorj county. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 15 kilometers, near the following cities: 16 km northwest of Târgu Jiu, 67 km south of Hunedoara, 73 km northeast of Drobeta-Turnu Severin, 81 km south of Deva, 93 km west of Râmnicu Vâlcea.
May 11 – An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.6 occurred in the Vrancea seismic area, with no material damage or casualties reported, according to the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU). The earthquake occurred at a depth of 140 kilometers.
March 24 – An earthquake with magnitude 4 occurred, at 10:14, in Vrancea county, Vrancea seismic zone, at a depth of 140 km, near the following cities: 37 kilometers west of Focșani, 72 km north of Buzău, 72 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 87 km south of Bacău, 87 km east of Brașov, 88 km southwest by Bârlad, according to the National Research-Development Institute for Earth Physics.

August 6 – An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 occurred, at 16:04 local time, in Vrancea county, Vrancea seismic zone, according to data published by INCDFP. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 140 km, near the cities: 43 km west of Focșani, 66 km north of Buzău, 67 km east of Sfântu-Gheorghe, 80 km east of Brașov, 95 km south of Bacău, 97 km southwest of Bârlad and 99 km northeast of Ploiesti.
August 1st – An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 occurred, at 15:09 local time, in the Vrancea seismic zone, Vrancea county, according to information published by INCDFP. The depth at which the earthquake occurred was 128.8 km. May 7 – An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.1 occurred, at 18:32, in Buzau county, according to INCDFP.
