The President of the National Bank of Poland, Adam Glapiński, met with the United States ambassador to Poland, Tom Rose, NBP announced in a statement on Wednesday. The meeting concerned, among others, cooperation between the central banks of both countries.

NBP added that the meeting was also attended by the first vice-president of NBP, Marta Kightley, and the head of the trade and investment department at the US Embassy, ​​Ashley Bartlett.

“Stressing the sharing of common values, the conversation referred to, among others, the macroeconomic situation in Poland and the United States, economic cooperation, NBP's participation in the work of the G20, as well as cooperation between the central banks of both countries. The changes currently taking place in the global economy and international finances were also discussed. The growing role of gold in the reserves of central banks around the world was emphasized,” NBP said in a statement.

At the end of January this year the value of gold held by the NBP amounted to over PLN 313.72 billion. Converted into euros, it was almost EUR 74.5 billion, and when converted into dollars – almost 88.68 billion. In January, the NBP management board agreed to increase gold resources to 700 tons from 550 tons that the central bank had at the end of 2025. (PAP)
