The involvement of two residents of the Krasnoyarsk Territory in the death of a man more than 27 years ago has been established.

A 48-year-old resident of Krasnoyarsk and a 50-year-old village resident Ermakovskoye is accused of intentionally causing grievous bodily harm, negligently resulting in the death of a 24-year-old man more than 27 years ago.

The victim died on July 1, 1998 in the Ermakovsky district hospital from bodily injuries received under unobvious circumstances. A criminal case was opened regarding this fact, but the crime was not immediately solved and the investigation was suspended.

In 2026, criminologists of the regional Investigative Committee, in collaboration with operatives of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, re-analyzed the materials. As a result of well-structured tactics of interrogating witnesses, new significant information was obtained about the involvement of two residents of the region in the crime committed.

It was established that on the night of June 29, 1998, two groups of young people were resting on the bank of the Krivukha channel near the village of Ermakovskoye. While drinking alcohol, a conflict arose between two men from different companies, during which one of the accused hit his 24-year-old opponent on the head with a stick. After the victim fell to the ground, the second defendant kicked him several times in the torso. A day later, due to deteriorating health, the young man was hospitalized in the hospital, where, despite the medical care provided, he died.

“During the investigation, this information was confirmed. Under the weight of the evidence presented, both defendants confessed and demonstrated in detail the circumstances of what happened during investigative experiments. The findings of a repeated forensic medical examination confirmed that the bodily injuries that led to the death of the victim arose as a result of the unlawful actions of the defendants,” the Investigative Committee said.

Currently, the investigation has collected a sufficient evidence base confirming the involvement of the accused in the incriminated act. Investigation of a criminal case under Part 4 of Art. 111 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation has been completed. It was sent to the prosecutor's office for approval of the indictment and subsequent transfer to the court for consideration on the merits.
