Parents are warned about marmalade replacing energy drinks for teenagers

February 24 16:00

Among teenagers and young adults, marmalade containing caffeine and taurine is gaining popularity – essentially the same energy drinks, only in the form of candies.

The deputy head of Novy Urengoy, Oksana Murashko, sounded the alarm: according to her, dangerous sweets are on free sale, and you don’t need a passport to buy them, Yamal 1 reports.

“The effect of the sweets is similar to the effects of the components of an energy drink that stimulate the central nervous system, and from the manufacturer there is only small print: “Consumption is not recommended for people under the age of 18 and for persons with increased nervous excitability.” Talk to your children about the dangers of such unhealthy sweets,” Murashko urged parents.

If consumed regularly, this marmalade can cause problems with the cardiovascular and nervous systems. When combined with caffeine, taurine increases blood pressure and the risk of developing anxiety.

Schoolchildren say that three packs of candy give an effect similar to a large can of energy drink. At the same time, the price of the sweet is low, and any child can buy it on marketplaces.
