Iran is preparing for a US attack. Satellite photos clearly show this

Satellite images of Iran from December 6, 2025 to January 24, 2026 show repairs following June attacks by Israel and the US and efforts to fill in the entrances to tunnels leading to a nuclear complex near Isfahan where much of Iran's enriched uranium is allegedly stored.

“The photos show efforts to prepare for an attack by the United States,” David Albright, founder and president of the Institute for Science and International Security, told Sky News

The institute said on February 9 that “filling in the entrances to the tunnels would help limit the damage of a possible airstrike, and would also make access more difficult in the event of an attack by special forces to seize or destroy highly enriched uranium that may be located there.”

Work on securing nuclear facilities, primarily tunnels, is also visible in photos of infrastructure near the city of Natanz, says the British broadcaster. “Some of these activities, especially in Isfahan, indicate that there is still something valuable inside,” added David Albright.

Iran is building a 'concrete sarcophagus'. Joint exercises with Russia

The Institute's analysis from January 22 showed progress in the construction of a “concrete sarcophagus” around the newly built military facility in Parchin, which is also shown in satellite photos of the facility from January 24.

Another facility being renovated is the missile base in Tabriz. It is one of Iran's main missile bases and warehouses. Satellite images show that buildings there have been fully repaired since the 2025 Israeli attacks.

Some of the photos also show S-300 launchers at air defense bases near Tehran, noted Nicole Grajewski from the French International Research Center (Sciences Po).

Sky News recalled that on January 19, Russian and Iranian forces also conducted joint exercises in the Gulf of Oman and the Indian Ocean. Center for Strategic and International Studies analyst Mark Cancian pointed out that “Russia is trying to help its partner, but its options are extremely limited because it is completely absorbed in the war in Ukraine.”

Tension between the US and Iran is growing. Donald Trump threatens Tehran

In recent weeks, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly threatened Iran with intervention, including military attack, if an agreement to limit the country's nuclear program is not reached. The US has strengthened its military presence in the Middle East.

During the inaugural meeting of the Peace Council on Thursday, Donald Trump emphasized that he hoped to reach an agreement and that he would find out whether it was possible within 10 days. He then set this time horizon at 10-15 days.

The US and Iran resumed talks on the nuclear deal at the beginning of February, conducted through Oman. After the first round of negotiations, on February 6, Reuters reported that Iran rejected American calls to completely stop uranium enrichment.

The authorities in Tehran declare that their nuclear program is exclusively civilian and peaceful. The West fears that Iran is seeking to produce nuclear weapons, as evidenced by, among others, enriching large amounts of uranium to a level that is close to military needs.
