Al Akhdoud – Al Qadsiah 2-4, in the 23rd stage of the Saudi Arabian championship. The formation prepared by Marius Șumudică, with a 100% Romanian brigade in the “centre”, was only able to keep pace with Brendan Rodgers' team for one half, in an unbalanced duel also from the point of view of the value of the lots.
According to Transfermarkt, Al Akhdoud is valued at almost 14 million euros, while Al Qadsiah reaches 119 million euros and lines up important names such as Koen Casteels, Nacho Fernandez, Otavio, Quinones or Mateo Retegui.
Brave start, negative end
The referee brigade was Romanian, Ovidiu Hațegan was delegated VAR referee, from Horațiu Feșnic's brigade Radu Ghinguleac and Adrian Vornicu were part of it. The hosts started well and scored the first opportunity in the 11th minute, after a corner executed at the second post, but the header went wide.
Two minutes later, the visitors scored through Quinones, but the goal was disallowed for offside. The pressure continued: in the 26th minute, Bonsu Baah missed from six yards and three minutes later Retegui incredibly wasted a ball in front of an empty goal after a Samuel Portugal rejection.
The dominance took shape in the 34th minute. Retegui resumed with a header, the ball hit the post and Quinones was in the right place to push the ball into the net. Al Qadsiah wasted another huge chance through Quinones, but the home team's reply came just before the break. In the 44th minute, after an action started from the left, Faghily crossed perfectly, and Bassogog finished for 1-1, score in the booths.
The second half decided the match in favor of the guests, but had an incendiary ending
The tie lasted a little. In the 50th minute, Al Ahmad took advantage of a fumbled ball in the hosts' defense and put Al Qadsiah back in front. The visitors continued to control the game and in the 74th minute Quinones made it a double after a quick one-two with a teammate.
In the 85th minute, the hosts reduced the difference, after a shot that hit the crossbar, the ball falling on the goal line, but Al Hatila recovered the ball and sent it into the goal. In the immediately following phase, the visitors closed the table and won the three points, after a very well-constructed phase of combinatory play. Quinones managed the “triple”, setting the final score, 4-2 for Al Qadsiah.
For Şumudica, this is the eighth consecutive match without a win.

Critical situation in the ranking
Al Akhdoud remains in penultimate 17th place with just 10 points from 22 races, six lengths off the lead. Since the return of the Romanian technician, the team has recorded only one win (1-0 with Al Kholood), two draws and seven defeats, including drastic setbacks such as 0-6 with Al Hilal.
On the other hand, Brendan Rodgers' team consolidates its position in the first part of the ranking, in 4th place, with 50 points, only 3 behind the leader Al-Hilal, but also with a stage in addition.
