Strait of Hormuz – blocking it would be very painful. Experts rated

On Tuesday, Iran announced a temporary restriction of access to part of the Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Persian Gulf with the Gulf of Oman and through which one fifth of the world's oil production is transported. The reason for this decision were military exercises using live ammunition conducted in a water area closed by Iran. Although the maneuvers were completed after a few hours, in the context of increasing tensions with the US, they were perceived as a potential announcement of a shipping blockade in this strategic place.
