The act stipulates that it may be up to 80%. the sum of basic salary and functional allowance. It is enough for the university council to grant such an allowance – it does not even have to justify it in detail. Universities are happy to use this right.
According to the findings of “Gazeta Wyborcza”, rectors of Wrocław universities are among the best paid in the country. Already upon taking up the position, the rector can count on a fourfold increase in his current earnings. At the University of Wrocław, the rules for granting the task allowance are no longer so transparent. Prof. Robert Olkiewicz receives additional funds not for specific tasks, but because of “the nature of the work and the conditions of its performance.” This wording comes directly from the act and was used by the university to justify payments to the rector in 2022–2028.

Initially, prof. Olkiewicz applied for a task allowance of PLN 5,590, but the university council increased it to PLN 10,000. PLN, considering his request a sign of restraint.
