An orchid is a capricious but beautiful plant that requires special care. For its successful growth and flowering, it is not necessary to buy expensive fertilizers. One simple and affordable option is rice water, which you can prepare in your kitchen.
In the spring, orchids begin to actively grow and need a lot of nutrients for new leaves and flowers. A lack of microelements can lead to the orchid not blooming or the leaves beginning to turn yellow.
It is very easy to use rice water as a fertilizer for houseplants. Rice water contains nutrients such as potassium, magnesium and phosphorus, which help the orchid to develop.
How to prepare rice water:
Cook the rice without salt and let the water cool. Pour into a jar and store for no more than 5 days out of direct sunlight, otherwise the liquid may ferment and lose all its beneficial properties. For watering, mix 1 part rice water with 3 parts plain water.
Fertilizing with rice water can be done once a month in the spring and summer. In winter and autumn, orchids are dormant and no fertilizer is required.
Plain rice water improves the soil, stimulates root development and helps the orchid grow healthy and beautiful. This is a safe way to feed without chemical additives.
