At the Krasnoyarsk airport, customs officers seized 2.4 thousand pieces of undeclared cigarettes (119 packs) from a foreigner. This is 12 times more than the permitted limit.
Tobacco products were detected using inspection equipment in the “green corridor” in the luggage of an air passenger arriving from Harbin (China).
The 48-year-old man explained that he bought the cigarettes as gifts and was not aware of the rules for moving such goods.
Let us remind you that for personal use from abroad you can import no more than 200 cigarettes, or 50 cigars (cigarillos), or 200 products with heated tobacco (“sticks”), or 250 grams of tobacco, or the specified products in an assortment with a total weight of no more than 250 grams. Tobacco products in excess of this norm are classified as commercial goods and are subject to declaration in the general manner with the payment of customs duties.
The customs press service said that in January of this year alone, as part of the control of international flights at the Krasnoyarsk airport, 14 cases of violation of the rules for the transportation of tobacco products were identified and 8 thousand pieces of cigarettes (400 packs) were seized. In most cases, passengers brought cigarettes in excess of the duty-free limits allowed for individuals from China, Thailand and Vietnam. Based on all the facts, cases of administrative offenses were opened under Articles 16.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (non-declaration of goods) and 16.3 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation (failure to comply with prohibitions and restrictions).
