Energy transformation in Poland accelerates, and one of its key directions is gas greening through the development of the biomethane sector. The Polish Gas Company, as the largest operator of the distribution system in the country, plays an important role in this process. The company not only adapts technical infrastructure to a new type of fuel, but above all remains in a constant dialogue with investors.

– As a Polish gas company we are in constant contact with the market, we carefully listen to the needs of entrepreneurs and provide them with specific solutions. A good example of this approach is a map of absorbency – a tool that has been very popular since its disclosure and which we have been constantly developing to respond to the needs of investors who want to develop a biomethane market with us in Poland – emphasizes Arkadiusz Kazana, President of the PSG board.

Map of the absorbency of the distribution network, publicly available at: www.psgaz.pl/gotowi-na-biomethaneit is an intuitive tool that allows a preliminary assessment of the potential location of the biomethanownia in terms of the possibility of introducing the entire planned production of green gas into the network. Shades of green indicate the level of network absorbency in individual areas – from high to low. Although the map does not replace the formal connection conditions, it allows investors to quickly narrow down the search area and reduce decisions.

Since the publication, the tool has been very popular – it records on average over 100 visits a day. PSG treats a map of absorbency not only as technical support for investors, but also as an element of dialogue with the market that the company is consistently developing.

– We want to show that the Polish Gas company is a partner who not only responds to the needs of the market, but also tries to overtake them. That is why, apart from digital tools, we offer the support of biomethane advisers who operate in all voivodships and remain at the disposal of investors at every stage of project planning – adds Szymon Paweł Moś, a member of the PSG board.

The Polish gas company manages a gas network with a length of over 213 thousand. kilometers and provides gas to over 7.6 million recipients. Connecting biomethane installations to this system is not only associated with the need for infrastructure adaptations – such as the analysis of local gas flows, planning the construction of new system connections or modernization of the network in order to enable the so -called Return flow – but also with the need to modify procedures related to including new sources into the network.

– We are aware of the challenges facing biomethane producers and we try to answer them. A map of absorbency is just one of the tools – we are also working on greater flexibility in assessing absorbency and improving the entire connection process – concluded Szymon Paweł Moś.
