“There is no longer a bust of Pushkin in Podol,” the post says.
As Suspilne Kultura notes, we are talking about a building that was erected at the end of the 19th century on Konstantinovskaya Street, 16. The bust itself was installed in 1899 on the fourth floor of the building.
The Focus publication quoted the words of Kyiv blogger Kirill Stepants, who noted that now there are no monuments or busts to Pushkin left in Kyiv. This post is currently missing from his Facebook page.
“This was the last Pushkin of Kyiv – there is nothing more to demolish. Obviously, this was done with the help of climbing equipment,” Stepanets said.
The Kyiv authorities have not yet commented on the liquidation of Pushkin.
The founder of the project “Decolonization.Ukraine” Vadim Pozdnyakov on Facebook called on residents of Odessa and Kamenka in the Cherkasy region to also get rid of monuments to Pushkin.
“The fall of Pushkin continues,” he noted.
