As the Ministry of Education said, the boys are interviewed in their schools. In 15-16 minutes, they must complete four tasks: read the text aloud, retell it, tell a monologue on one of the selected topics, and conduct a dialogue with an interlocutor. For students with disabilities, the time has been increased to 30 minutes.
The expert enters points into the protocol: you can get 1 point for expressive reading, 4 points for correct speech, and so on. To qualify, you must score 10 points out of a possible 20.
During the interview, personal and streaming audio recordings of answers are made. After finishing, students can listen to them to make sure there are no otherworldly noises or interference.
“The interview tests the communication skills of ninth-graders: the ability to read, understand and retell texts, correctly express thoughts and answer questions. This will be useful for schoolchildren not only in further studies, but also in everyday life,” noted the region’s Minister of Education Tatyana Gridasova.
For graduates who received a failure or did not appear for an interview for a valid reason, additional days are provided – March 11 and April 20, 2026.
All students will be able to find out the results no later than February 18 at school.
Final interview tasks in Russian can be viewed on the official website of the Federal Institute of Pedagogical Measurements in section “demo versions”.
