Sorin Grindeanu's first reaction after the fall of the Government: “There is life even after the motion. It is the duty of the parties to find a solution”

The leader of the PSD, Sorin Grindeanu, said on Tuesday, May 5, after the adoption of the motion of censure against the Government led by Ilie Bolojan, that the parties must quickly enter a stage of negotiation for the formation of a new majority.

“We need to build a majority. The vote is one that makes this motion pass with a record number. (…) We tried to reduce the pressure, to keep dialogue bridges. I think there is life and after this motion, it is the duty of the parties to find a solution”, said Grindeanu.
The PSD leader also said that he expects President Nicușor Dan to convene consultations with the parliamentary parties, in order to form a new executive. At the same time, he suggested that Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan should submit his mandate.
“The PSD is willing to quickly find a solution so that we have a new government as soon as possible”added the social democratic leader.
The government led by Ilie Bolojan was dismissed on Tuesday by a no-confidence motion adopted by the Parliament. The motion passed with 281 votes “for” and 4 “against”.
The executive will remain, however, at the Victoria Palace in an interim regime, until the installation of a new government, to ensure the administration of current affairs of the state.
