These low-cost online retailers are among the most affected sectors imposed by US President Donald Trump for almost all categories of consumer goods from China.

According to a random pricing system made by The Verge, specialized in technology news, several SHEIN products from different categories have registered slight price increases, although some items remained at the same price as a week before.

For example, a pair of children's woolen pants has increased from $ 8.29 on April 17 to $ 10.19, according to a report consulted by Al Arabiya Business.

Similarly, a Plus-Size dress has increased from $ 22.39 to $ 27.51, and pants have increased from $ 13.99 to $ 17.09, writes entrevue.fr.

Because stocks and prices Shein fluctuates so much every day, it is difficult to assign price variations exactly the customs duties. However, many Shein users have noticed that their shopping carts and short lists have become more expensive. Buyers also reported on Reddit that the price of some articles has doubled.

According to the data provided by the specialist in Web Bright Data, the price increases on Shein remained relatively modest until the beginning of March, compared to the prices from the end of 2024, and many products did not register any price changes during this period.

With the acceleration of pricing, many messages from the Reddit's Shein forums express the lack of buyers about the hidden costs or their reluctance to continue to buy on the platform.

No specific data on the TEMU were immediately available, but buyers also noticed price increases on this platform.

A message on the Shein website indicates that customs duties are included in the price displayed to consumers. A pop-up window states: “Customs taxes are included in the price you pay. You will never have to pay additional taxes on delivery.”

The current rate of customs taxes for imports from China is 145%, without including the new taxes that will enter into force on May 2. From that time, packages with a value of less than $ 800 – previously exempted from customs duties – will be subjected to new lump taxes of 100 dollars, or 120% of the value of the parcel.
