A marine drone exploded in the Port of Constanța. “The whole apartment vibrated”


A marine drone discovered on Friday morning in the Port of Constanța exploded around 10:30 a.m., the loud bang being heard from several kilometers away. According to the first information, there were no injured people, but the Red Intervention Plan was activated.

The drone was discovered around 5 am in berth 78 of the Romanian Lifesaving Agency at Sea (ARSVOM), and the area was restricted and activity in the area was temporarily suspended for the necessary checks to be carried out.

According to some sources, the drone has an estimated length of approximately 7-8 meters. At the time of publishing the information, the authorities did not provide official details regarding the origin of the drone or the circumstances in which it arrived in Constanța Port.

The discovery of the marine drone comes just days after a sea mine was found on the beach between Vama Veche and 2 Mai. The device, identified by the Romanian Naval Forces as a YaRM type mine, was neutralized by military divers after securing the area. According to the Ministry of National Defense, since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, 156 sea mines have been reported in the Black Sea basin, nine of which have been neutralized by the Romanian Naval Forces.
