In Kyiv, due to heat shortages, some schools and kindergartens were merged – KSCA

“In some kindergartens and schools, a decision was made to merge and consolidate institutions into one so that children could continue to study and stay in a safe environment,” the message says.

According to Mondrievsky, this model is already used in Goloseevsky, Darnitsky, Dneprovsky and Solomensky districts of the capital.

“Pupils of certain preschool education institutions have been temporarily transferred to kindergartens where there is heating. This allows us not to interrupt the educational process and at the same time maintain comfortable conditions for children,” said a Kiev official.

He also noted that schools operate in different formats – in person, mixed or remotely – depending on the situation in a particular institution.

Mondrievsky added that some schools in Troyeshchyna, a large residential neighborhood in the Desnyansky district of Kyiv, and in the Pechersky district are already gradually restoring full-time education as heat supply is restored and buildings are ready.

According to the official, the Kyiv Department of Education and Science daily monitors the situation in institutions, makes the necessary decisions and develops work algorithms for those schools and kindergartens where heat supply cannot be restored this heating season.

“We are talking, in particular, about some of the establishments in the Darnitsky and Dnieper districts that received heat from CHPP-4 – critically damaged as a result of the February shelling of Russia,” Mondrievsky noted.

Context

Against the background of a cold snap in Ukraine, the troops of the aggressor country of the Russian Federation have intensified their attacks on the country’s critical infrastructure facilities.

Only during the attack on the night of February 3, the Russian army attacked eight regions of Ukraine. Due to shelling in Kyiv, the Darnitskaya Thermal Power Plant (CHP-4) stopped supplying heat. It was almost completely destroyed, the government reported.

In Kharkov and the region, as a result of massive shelling, critical facilities of the Kharkov CHPP-5 PrJSC, as well as the Kharkovskaya and Zalyutino electrical substations were damaged. An emergency situation was declared in the regional center.
