Russia's energy infrastructure is a legitimate target for Ukraine's strikes because the energy sector is a source of funding for arms production, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Sunday, Reuters notes.

“We don't have to choose whether we hit a military target or an energy target. He (Russian President Vladimir Putin, no) sells this energy. He sells oil. So is it energy or is it a military target? Frankly, it's the same thing,” Zelenskiy wrote on X.

“Either we produce weapons and hit their weapons. Either we hit the source from which their money is generated and multiplied. And this source is the energy sector… All these are legitimate targets for us,” the Ukrainian leader added.
