“I haven’t been here for more than a year. And I haven’t lost anything. I just added 10 kg. Probably, Instagram disciplined me in the old days to keep in shape. Or maybe it’s due to age,” wrote 54-year-old Avramenko.
He illustrated the post with a photograph of himself against the backdrop of trees covered with frost. Avramenko did not specify where and when he was photographed, but in the photo he poses without a hat, in a tracksuit and a light denim jacket – such clothing is not entirely suitable for the severe frosts that have come to Ukraine.
Context
In the summer of 2025, Avramenko found himself at the epicenter of a scandal after the network suspected that he might have secretly left Ukraine. Then the geolocation of Avramenko’s Instagram page indicated that The author of the blog is located in Spain. Beach photos were also published on the page. In the comments, subscribers wondered whether Avramenko really left Ukraine and lives abroad, where he has real estate. The philologist, answering questions, neither confirmed nor refuted these suspicions.
After being made public online, Avramenko not only hid the geolocation of his page, but also deleted or archived scandalous publications with inconvenient comments from subscribers. At the time of publication of this news in information on his Instagram page states that the account owner's location is “not covered.” According to the settings, the owner of the microblog can either hide this information or make it public. It is not possible to change it manually in your profile.
One of the first to react to the Avramenko scandal on Facebook was the Ukrainian writer Ostap Ukrainets, who mobilized in the spring of 2024. “And I was wondering why Mr. Avramenko was not at the round table on the Ukrainian language. But it turns out he had a good reason,” he wrote ironically.
