An entrepreneur from Kansk was convicted of illegal deforestation worth 57 million rubles (video)

In the Krasnoyarsk Territory, an entrepreneur was sentenced for illegal logging worth 57 million rubles. This was reported by the press service of the regional prosecutor's office.

In the summer of 2019 in Kansk, a local entrepreneur decided to use forest plantations in the Ilan municipal district for personal interests and organized illegal cutting of trees on rented areas.

“To give the actions the appearance of legality, he attracted acquaintances, hired workers and executed over 80 fictitious contracts for the sale and purchase of forest plantations. Under the guise of “permitted” logging, everything was cut down – more than 7.3 thousand cubic meters of commercial timber disappeared on an area of ​​84 hectares. The damage caused to the state forest fund amounted to 57 million rubleslei,” said the regional supervisory agency.

The court found the man guilty of illegal logging (Part 3 of Article 260 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sentenced him to 6 years in prison in a general regime correctional colony. Also the convicted person was deprived of the right to engage in logging for 3 years, and the amount of damage caused was recovered from him as state income.

The criminal case against his accomplices is being considered in court.
