The survey was conducted on January 23-29 using telephone interviews based on a random sample of mobile phone numbers in all regions of Ukraine, except for the occupied territories. Interviews were conducted with 1,003 Ukrainian citizens aged 18 and older.

According to the survey 52 percent respondents consider it categorically unacceptable to give Russia control over the entire Donbas in exchange for security guarantees. At the same time, 40 percent are ready to make such a concession, although most of them admit that it is a difficult condition. Another 7 percent couldn't decide.

Donbas in Russia's hands? Most Ukrainians are against it
KMIS analysts separately noted that in the last two weeks of January, despite intense shelling and problems with electricity and heat supplies in Ukraine, support for this condition for achieving peace has not increased.
Among the inhabitants of Kiev, 59 percent considers giving up Donbas categorically unacceptable, and 31 percent are ready to accept it. In the west of the country, 57 percent categorically rejects this option, and 38 percent is ready to accept it. In the center and north of Ukraine, this percentage is 49 and 42 percent, respectively, in the south – 49 and 44 percent, and in the east – 50 and 39 percent.
The US sets conditions for Ukraine
At the end of January, the Financial Times, citing eight people familiar with the talks, reported that President Donald Trump's administration signaled to Ukraine that security guarantees from the US depend on consent to the agreement, which will probably require the transfer of the entire Donbas to Russia.
The Russian authorities have consistently declared that progress in peace negotiations with Ukraine depends on Kiev's consent to hand over to the Russian side the part of the Donetsk Oblast controlled by Ukrainian troops. Currently it is about 25-30 percent. territory of this region. There are, among others: the cities of Kramatorsk and Sloviansk – important centers, considered by Ukrainians to be key points of resistance, stopping Russian forces from a possible offensive deep into the country.
