It is reported that at first the German military noticed two drones and reported it to the police, but it soon became clear that more than 20 drones were simultaneously flying over the territory of the Bundeswehr airbase. Their type, size and flight altitude could not be determined.
The UAVs flew for several hours, and the police and military were unable to intervene.
Flights continued over the next four days. Airbase security spotted different types of drones, including ones with a wingspan of at least two meters. The UAV could not be landed using electronic warfare.

From July to September 2025, 261 violations using drones were recorded in Germany, including over Bundeswehr facilities, defense enterprises (Rheinmetall) and energy infrastructure, Bild reported.
Such flights are reconnaissance in nature and may be associated with the aggressor country of the Russian Federation, including due to the activity of Russian reconnaissance vessels off the coast of Germany, experts say.
