FC Barcelona presented the financial reports for the completed fiscal year and the budget for the following season during the General Assembly of the club's members, held at the Auditori 1899 (event space within the Camp Nou stadium).
Both points were approved, but the figures revealed confirm that the Blaugrana group is still in a fragile economic situation.
Barcelona has huge debts to other clubs
According to the financial report, Barcelona has 159 million euros to pay for the transfers made in recent seasons, of which 140 million must be paid in the short term, that is, during the current season.
By comparison, last year the Catalan club had to pay only 45 million in the same category.
The biggest outstanding sums come from the transfers made in the summer of 2022: Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Jules Kounde, brought in for around 150 million euros.
Of this amount, Barcelona still has 77 million to pay – 42 for Raphinha, 25 for Kounde and 10 for Lewandowski.
The Dani Olmo case and the “Vitor Roque paradox”
Another important chapter is recent acquisitions. In the summer of 2024, the club transferred Dani Olmo, for which the club has to pay 18 million euros this year.
However, the situation becomes even more complicated in the case of the Brazilian Vitor Roque.
Although the striker was sold in 2024 to Palmeiras for 25 million euros, Barcelona still has to pay 17 million to the Athletico Paranaense club, from which they bought him in 2023, notes Mundo Deportivo.
BLM, valued at 800 million: “There is no question of sale”
Another sensitive topic of the Assembly was related to Barça Licensing & Merchandising (BLM), the company that manages the commercial brand of the club.
Treasurer Ferran Olive, 67, strongly denied any intention to sell a stake in the BLM after some voices had suggested resuming the approved plan as early as 2022.
“We did an external valuation and the BLM is currently worth about €800 million. The sale of any percentage was not taken into account.
It is an important source of income, and new agreements, such as the one with Nike, have brought the club more than 170 million euros,” explained Olive.
The Catalans have almost tripled their debts compared to the previous year
The main problem, however, remains the short-term debt, which has tripled compared to the last fiscal year.
The lack of revenue from the Spotify Camp Nou, still under renovation, directly affects the club's budget, as Hansi Flick's team plays its matches at the much less profitable Montjuic Olympic Stadium.
Club officials estimate that the financial situation will gradually stabilize in the coming years, with the team's return to the Camp Nou and the increase in commercial income generated by the new partnerships.
