A new round of US-mediated trilateral talks between Ukraine and Russia will take place in Abu Dhabi next week, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced on Sunday, Reuters reports.

“Our team of negotiators has just presented a report. The dates for the next trilateral meetings have been set: February 4 and 5 in Abu Dhabi,” Zelenski announced on X.

“Ukraine is ready for a substantive discussion, and we are interested in ensuring that the outcome will bring us closer to a real and dignified end to the war,” Zelenskiy added.

The first round of negotiations in this format on the war in Ukraine took place on January 23 and 24, 2026, in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. Ukrainian officials described the talks as “constructive” but without a final agreement.

The issue of control over the occupied territories, especially Donbas, remained the most difficult point. Russia has argued that it will not accept a deal that does not give it control over these regions, while Ukraine has rejected territorial concessions.
