The recount of votes began on January 13 after the electoral commission detected discrepancies in the votes cast on December 28 for candidates for the Kosovo Assembly. According to Ansa, the results were seriously distorted – not in the distribution of votes between parties, but in the number of votes allocated to individual candidates. In some cases, the differences reached up to PLN 6,000. votes.

Due to the detected irregularities, over a hundred people appointed by the parties to work on electoral commissions were detained. Representatives of four main political groups, including Albin Kurti's Self-Determination, the Democratic Party of Kosovo, the Democratic League of Kosovo and the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, strongly condemned electoral manipulation and demanded that those responsible for fraud not be granted amnesty.

The head of the Central Election Commission, Kreshnik Radoniqi, said on Friday that Albin Kurti's party obtained about 51 percent. support. Second place went to the Democratic Party of Kosovo, which won 20 percent. votes. The next positions were taken by the Democratic League of Kosovo, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo and the Serb List, representing the main party of the Serb minority.

After the vote counting process was completed, it became possible to resume political consultations on the formation of a new government coalition. As the agencies emphasize, Kurti's party was close to obtaining an absolute majority, which should make it easier to break the political deadlock that had lasted in Kosovo for almost a year.
