This is supposed to be a huge blow to Putin. His shadow fleet will suffer

“Our goal is to announce this sanctions package on February 24,” Kallas said during a press conference last week.
Despite ongoing talks between EU countries, Kallas noted that no final agreement on the sanctions package has yet been reached.
– Countries are proposing various solutions, work is still ongoing – she said, adding without giving details that the proposals include, among others: a complete ban on maritime services and additional sanctions on Russian energy and fertilizers.

Speaking to journalists on January 29, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noel Barrot called for introduction a complete ban on the provision of maritime services to Russia in order to stop the activities of the so-called “shadow fleet” of Russian tankers.
The previous sanctions package, approved on October 23, included restrictions on 118 entities belonging to the so-called “shadow fleets”, as well as Russian banks, energy sector revenues and networks involved in bypassing existing restrictions imposed in connection with Moscow's full-scale war against Ukraine.
For the first time, the European Union also imposed oborders on cryptocurrency platforms and on banks in Russia and other countries that help circumvent sanctions.
President Volodymyr Zelensky announced earlier that Kiev would propose that the 20th sanctions package cover “Russian legal entities and individuals who continue to profit from energy resources.”
— There will also be new information about the kidnappers of Ukrainian children – this must be met with truly global pressure. And of course, it is necessary to hit even harder at all the mechanisms that enable Russian military production. This is a key issue, Zelensky added.
