Donald Tusk before the extraordinary government meeting. “History will judge the president”

– We were prepared for the possibility that the president would veto this program – said the Prime Minister. He drew attention to the symbolic moment when the decision was made. – On the 27th anniversary of Poland's accession to NATO, we wanted to show that, just as then, we are able to adopt the SAFE program for Polish security, hand in hand.
However, the head of government emphasized that the head of state had chosen a different direction. – The president took a different path – he noted, adding that the lack of signature of the act was a serious problem from the point of view of the government's activities.
Tusk also announced quick action by the Council of Ministers. – We want to give the government a response as quickly as possible – he said.
The Prime Minister revealed that the president's decision was met with misunderstanding among Poland's European partners. – Leaders of other European countries have been writing to me since the morning who do not understand the president's decision, he said.
He concluded by stating that the consequences of this decision would be assessed in the future. – History will judge the president's decision dramatically negatively – concluded the Prime Minister before the start of the extraordinary government meeting devoted to the SAFE fund.
