NATO allies are testing their reaction capacity on the Eastern Flank: Dynamic Front 26 has begun. What role does Romania play?
NATO kicked off exercise DYNAMIC FRONT 26, the largest US Army artillery interoperability exercise held in Europe from January 26 to February 13, 2026. Allies are testing multi-domain integration of forces and strengthening the line of deterrence on the Eastern Flank, with Romania at the center.

Romania, “important role by hosting the training sequences from Poligonul Cincu”
DYNAMIC FRONT 26 aims to exercise NATO regional plans, as well as integrating effects in the land, air, maritime, cyber and space domains, to counter access restriction and area control capabilities supported by concentrated conventional forces.
“DYNAMIC FRONT 26 places an increased emphasis on command and control, simulation and multi-domain integration, reflecting the realities of modern conflicts, where forces must operate remotely, across national borders and in multiple domains, maintaining the speed and precision of decision-making.
Live-fire activities are carried out in several allied states, with Romania playing an important role by hosting training sequences from Polygon Five, which directly contributes to strengthening allied interoperability and strengthening NATO's deterrence and defense posture on the Eastern Flankc”, explained MApN, in a statement.
According to the Ministry of National Defence, DYNAMIC FRONT 26 highlights the role of Multidomain Command 56 – Europe in the integration of effects at the level of theater of operations and in the development of large-scale multidomain operations and marks the last edition of the exercise in its current format, to be merged with the Arcane Thunder exercise under the name Arcane Front next year.
Through this exercise, the US, Romania and NATO allies reaffirm their firm commitment to collective defense and regional security.
