The ship was attacked by Ukrainian drones on the morning of June 3 – the opening day of the International Economic Forum in Saint Petersburg. The published photos show a heavy fire on the ship. The Telegram channel “Spy Dossier” claims that one person died as a result of the collision with the corvette.
“The damage to the upper parts of the superstructure between the bridge and the stern mast is significant. The main mast collapsed, probably due to the ignition and combustion of composite materials,” Radio Swoboda quotes an analysis of a video by Norwegian analyst and former naval officer Tord Are Iversen. According to his assessment, the ship is repairable, but it will require time and significant financial outlays.
The corvette “Boykij” was launched in April 2011 and joined the Baltic Fleet in May 2013. In June 2025, BBC News reported that “Boykij” was escorting tankers of the “shadow fleet” in the English Channel.
