His words were met with strong criticism from politicians and military officials from many NATO countries. Thomas Rose also spoke on the matter.
“The fact that the United States did not really need the support of so many allies in Afghanistan or Iraq makes the immediate support we received from so many allies, including, above all, Poland, all the more significant and all the more appreciated,” wrote Thomas Rose.
The ambassador emphasized that Poland did not hesitate for a moment to support the Americans and that this loyalty, solidarity and common beliefs are something that the US president and the Americans will never forget. According to his assessment, the Polish forces fighting alongside the Americans showed extraordinary professionalism, courage and true sacrifice.
“Poland is more than just a loyal and trustworthy ally. It is more than just a partner who helps share our burdens, bear our risks and stand shoulder to shoulder with American men and women in uniform. Poland does all this more because Poland is family,” he added.
Rose did not spare words of appreciation for Polish politicians. In his entry, he mentioned President Karol Nawrocki, Prime Minister Donald Tusk, former Prime Minister Mateusz Morawiecki and the head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Radosław Sikorski. As he noted, all of them “in different moments and roles contributed to a relationship built on trust, courage and common sacrifice.”
