VIDEO Revolt in Timiș. Locals gathered in front of Mario's killer's grandparents' house and want him out of the village: “Let us in”

Local residents of Sânmihaiu Român commune, Timiș county, are protesting on Sunday after learning that the 13-year-old minor accused of killing his 15-year-old friend Mario Berinde, together with a boy of the same age, was taken by his grandparents and brought to this neighboring town, 12 km from Timișoara. People say they fear for their children's safety and are asking that the boy not stay in the town.
According to Opinia Timișoara, approximately 150 people gathered in front of the minor's grandparents' home, where he would have been entrusted. Gendarmes and policemen were mobilized to the scene. People asked the mayor to take measures so that the boy does not stay there.
“We don't want the criminal here with us. We have children, we have families,” a local told Opinia Timișoara.
The two 15-year-old minors accused in the case were remanded in custody. One of them is charged with capital murder and desecration of corpses, and the second is charged with desecration of corpses and favoring the perpetrator. The 13-year-old boy was released as he is not criminally responsible.
People say that they are also worried about the possibility that the minor will be enrolled in the local school.
“I understand that it is intended to be included in the gymnasium school in Sânmihaiu Român. The fact that he is already here in the communiqués, by what we hear, and that he can come between our children in the school unit worries us,” said a woman.
The mayor, booed by the outraged people
The mayor of the commune of Sânmihaiu Român, Viorel Mărcuti, came in the middle of the protesters and talked with both the locals and the minor's family. The mayor said that, at that time, there was no official information to confirm that the boy was actually in his grandparents' home and called for calm.
“Let us in,” shouted an outraged man to the parimar.
The mayor's statements were met with boos and insults from some participants in the protest. Viorel Mărcuti announced the convening of a meeting of the City Council.
“Violence has no justification, and any form of revenge or self-justice is unacceptable. I call for calm, reason and trust in the authorities investigating the case: Police, Prosecutor's Office and DIICOT,” the mayor said, according to banatulmeu.ro.
The protesters asked the mayor to declare a state of emergency in the locality, and that the minor “be thrown out of the village and imprisoned”, notes Agerpres.
The mayor explained to those present that he cannot declare a state of emergency in this context.
“Part of the world is heated, but I appeal to your reason. We have the case before the prosecutors, in the research phase. We cannot give a solution like in the Middle Ages. Let me talk to the Police and the Gendarmerie”, the mayor also sent them.
