President Nicușor Dan warned that if the perception on the financial markets regarding the governing coalition is negative “this means that Romania borrows 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4% more expensive”.
Asked, on Saturday, in Iasi, how he sees PSD's attacks on the liberal prime minister, the head of state said: “It's democracy, it's freedom for everyone to say what they want on the political scene.”
“Is it good? It's not good, of course, because if the perception (…) regarding the governing coalition is negative on the financial markets, this means that Romania borrows 0.2%, 0.3%, 0.4% more expensive, so it's good to separate political action from the political statement. It's not possible, we're going like this, what else can we do? It's democracy,” he continued.
Nicușor Dan was asked if he is considering replacing Prime Minister Bolojan.
“There is a coalition of four parties, this coalition has an agreement, no one questioned this agreement – and the agreement says that by April, next year, the PNL will appoint the prime minister,” answered the head of state.
“These parties want to continue”
Asked if the PSD will set the conditions for him to change the prime minister or remove the USR from the government, the president said he does not want to talk about assumptions.
“It is very good that these four parties plus the national minorities agreed to be in government at a time when it would have been simpler for each of them to be in the opposition. Where we are today in the relationship between these parties is that they want to continue,” Nicușor Dan also declared.
