“Return of Russian discount stores to the Polish market. KAS entered the owners on the sanction list


“As a result of the applications submitted by the head of the cash register, the Minister of the Interior and Administration (Ministry of Interior and Administration) issued Further decisions to enter the sanction list: Torgservis PL sp. OO and its shareholders: Sergieja Iwanowicz Sznader and Andrei Ivanowicz Sznader” – we read in the KAS announcement.
A slightly more light on the matter is shed by another fragment of the message: “Return of Russian discount stores to the Polish market.
The company is the operator of the MyPrice chain on the Polish market. It is a Russian discount chain known under the previous name Mere. In 2022, Mere stores were closed in Poland as a result of the outbreak of war in Ukraine.

On the fact that a hard discount with a Russian pedigree is working in Poland again (Siedlce and Oleszewie-Borki), the Portal Handlowy informed in December. Already then he pointed out that the Russian businessman, who together with his brother opened stores in Poland, is on the Ukrainian sanction list.
“According to the available information, Sergiej Iwanowicz Sznader and Andrey Iwanowicz Sznader, were covered by sanctions by Ukraine,” says Kas. “As Russia's citizens, they have shares in numerous companies operating in the Russian Federation, which was one of the reasons for their sanctions” – we keep reading.
What does it mean to enter the sanction list on the Polish?
Entering a sanction list on the Polish Sanction List means taking over a person or entity with the following means of restricting:
a. freezing all financial resources and economic resources,
b. prohibition to make available to entities/persons entered on the list or on their behalf – directly or indirectly – any financial resources or economic resources,
c. a ban on conscious and intentional participation in activities whose purpose or effect is to bypass the funds indicated in lit. AIB,
d. exclusion from the public procurement procedure or competition,
e. an entry in the list of foreigners whose stay in the territory of the Republic of Poland is undesirable (in the case of people – foreigners).
