Rapper Wiz Khalifa contests the 9-month prison sentence for consuming cannabis on the stage of the festival in Costinesti

American rapper Wiz Khalifa filed an appeal against the sentence handed down by the Constanța Court of Appeal, which sentenced him to nine months in prison with execution for possession of dangerous drugs. According to the data in the file, under the real name Thomaz Cameron Jibril, the artist filed the appeal at the Constanța Court, the case being registered on Wednesday. The court set the trial date for April 3.

Wiz Khalifa was finally sentenced at the end of last year, after the Constanța Court of Appeal accepted the appeal filed by the DIICOT prosecutors and increased the sentence originally set by the Constanța Court.

In the first instance, the artist received a criminal fine of 3,600 lei, but the prosecutors contested the solution, requesting a more severe punishment.

The rapper was sent to court in October 2024 for possession of dangerous drugs, without right, for personal consumption.

The investigation established that, on the evening of July 13, 2024, he held within the premises of the Beach festival, please! from Costinești 18.53 grams of cannabis, as well as a cigarette that he smoked on stage during the concert.

“From the administered evidentiary material it emerged that, on 13.07.2024, at around 11:55 p.m., while he was in the venue of the music festival in Costinești, he possessed, for his own consumption, without the right, the amount of 18.53 grams of cannabis and a cigarette containing cannabis”, the prosecutors said.
