Dentists are increasingly identifying dental problems among Krasnoyarsk residents due to self-medication with fillings from marketplaces

Dentists of the Federal Siberian Scientific and Clinical Center in Krasnoyarsk are recording an increase in the number of patients with serious dental damage.

Thus, at the appointment, patients are diagnosed with microdamage to the enamel, hidden cracks and gum inflammation.

“Analysis of cases shows that damage is often caused by whitening strips and highly concentrated pastes, which contain aggressive chemical components that can cause damage to tooth enamel and oral mucosa. Using ultrasonic cleaning gadgets that do not have a cooling function leads to damage to dental tissue. Homemade fillings from marketplaces, which do not eliminate bacteria and continue to destroy teeth, are difficult to remove even for specialists,” explained the FSNKTs FMBA of Russia.

According to experts, self-medication is one of the top 10 reasons for visiting a dentist.

Doctors reminded that only a dentist can carry out high-quality and safe teeth whitening and plaque removal procedures. Dental treatment should be performed exclusively by a certified specialist.
