The restoration project for the Surikov estate in Krasnoyarsk did not pass the examination. The corresponding entry appeared in the unified register of conclusions.

Experts gave a negative opinion on the design documentation and the results of engineering surveys conducted by the Vertical World company.

Earlier, the mayor's office reported that in the two-story house, built in the 19th century from Siberian larch, it is necessary to strengthen the foundation, put the frame, shutters, and windows in order. It is planned to replace the plaster inside, repair utilities and drainage systems. In addition, the contractor developed the renovation of the estate's yard.

Previously, the approval of the project at the regional level was reported by the service for the protection of cultural heritage sites of the Krasnoyarsk Territory. According to them, the designers planned to restore the damaged structural and architectural elements of the facades and interiors. Why the project was not approved by the experts is not indicated in the registry entry.

The service for the protection of cultural heritage sites recalled that the house was built in the 1830s by Vasily Surikov’s father. It is part of an estate typical of Siberian urban development of the 19th century. The artist left Krasnoyarsk at the age of 20 and then lived in Moscow, but continued to consider it his home.

The idea to create a museum of Vasily Surikov in Krasnoyarsk arose in the 1920s, but it was realized only on the 100th anniversary of the artist, in the summer of 1948. Surikov’s daughters took part in the creation of the museum; it stores memorial and artistic materials about the work, as well as original works of the artist: portraits and landscapes, sketches and watercolors, graphic works, and the everyday environment of the Surikov family is reproduced. The estate today generally retains its appearance and interior from the second half of the 19th century.
