In 2025, a record number of patients were operated on at the Krasnoyarsk Cardiocenter

In 2025, 9,394 patients were treated in the hospital of the Federal Cardiocenter of Krasnoyarsk – this is the highest figure in the entire 15 years of the clinic’s operation. The press service notes that additional quotas helped to operate on more patients from the most severe categories.

“For the first time in Krasnoyarsk, surgeons of the Cardiocenter performed mitral valve clipping operations; this is a minimally invasive technology that allows saving a particularly severe category of patients. Quotas for endovascular aortic valve replacement were increased threefold, whereas previously no more than 24 interventions were performed annually; last year, 90 patients were operated on. The number of quotas for the implantation of cardioverter-defibrillators has also increased significantly; for the first time in the Cardiocenter in a year, 145 people received this expensive type of surgical treatment,” the press service said.

The head physician of the Federal Center for Cardiovascular Surgery, Valery Sakovich, explained that the increase in the number of operations was due to changes in financing conditions. At the end of the year, additional funds were received through the compulsory medical insurance system, so operations were carried out until December 29.

“Every year there are more severe patients – older, with concomitant pathologies, we are putting much more effort into caring for such patients in intensive care. At the same time, we managed to maintain a low level of postoperative complications and mortality, which indicates the quality of surgical care,” the doctor noted.

In the children's department of the cardiocenter, all operations necessary for patients with congenital heart defects are now performed, excluding only organ transplantation.

Despite the shortage of personnel in medicine, the Cardiocenter is 94% staffed.

Valery Sakovich named patient routing as the main problem the clinic faces. He noted that now it is easiest for patients from neighboring regions to get to the Cardiac Center – Khakassia, Tyva, Irkutsk region, Buryatia, Yakutia.

“From some regions, it is easier for people to get to other clinics, but they choose us because they already have an image, a name, they go to specific surgeons, knowing the results of our work. But there is still no clear understanding of the routing of patients from the Krasnoyarsk Territory, no matter how strange it may be. We continue to solve this problem,” explained the head physician.
