Political parties collected over 14 million lei from the state budget in January. PSD, AUR and PNL, the biggest beneficiaries

In January, political parties in Romania received subsidies from the state budget totaling more than 14.47 million lei, according to data published by the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP).

In January 2026, political parties in Romania benefited from subsidies from the state budget totaling 14,471,475 lei, the Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) announced in a statement issued on Wednesday, January 14.
The most important allocations were received by the main parties with parliamentary representation. Thus:
1. The Social Democratic Party (PSD) collected 4,801,515 lei;
2. Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) – 2,839,211 lei;
3. National Liberal Party (PNL) – 2,614,110 lei;
4. Union Save Romania (USR) – 1,855,474 lei.
Other political formations received smaller amounts:
* SOS Romania – 1,234,237 lei;
* Party of Young People (POT) – 994,491 lei;
* Popular Movement Party (PMP) – 67,932 lei;
* Force of Justice – 64,505 lei.
The payments were made to the parties' accounts on January 13, 2026, being the first subsidy transfer for the current year.
The amounts are calculated according to the political representation at the national level and are intended to support the activities of the party, according to the legal regulations.
