Polish 2050 Treasurer Łukasz Osmalak informed PAP on Tuesday that the party will contact the Internal Security Agency regarding the invalidated second round of Monday's elections for the party's chairman. We are convinced that someone from outside interfered, he added.

On Monday, over 800 eligible activists of Poland 2050 elected the leader of the group in the second round: Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, Minister of Funds and Regional Policy, and Paulina Hennig-Kloska, head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment, applied for the position. The vote in the second election for the president of Poland 2050 was invalidated – as it was reported at the time – due to technical problems. TVN24 was the first to report that Poland 2050 would contact the Internal Security Agency.
Thousands of votes out of nowhere
– Out of nowhere, we have over 26,000 unauthorized votes cast. We want this to be investigated, Osmalak emphasized. – We are convinced that someone from outside interfered, but we have no idea who, how and why – he added.
Deputy Minister of Digital Affairs, MP from Poland 2050, Michał Gramatyka, announced on the X platform that the party's management also decided to report this case to the National Prosecutor's Office. “The documents we have show that the party prepared the elections correctly – the system was interfered with during the voting,” he emphasized.
The statement of the management board of Poland 2050 issued on Tuesday afternoon emphasized the lack of objections to the actions of the National Electoral Commission. As noted, it acted in an exemplary manner: “quickly, responsibly and in accordance with procedures, immediately deciding to interrupt voting and invalidate the second round of elections without reading the results.”
Friday's National Council will decide what to do next
As reported, the chairman of the group, Szymon Hołownia, decided to convene the National Council on January 16, 2026, which is the earliest possible statutory date. “The National Council will decide how the electoral process will be continued: on the one hand, as quickly as possible, and on the other hand, in a fully safe manner for the organization and its members. The security and credibility of the process are our absolute priority,” it was emphasized.
“Szymon Hołownia's Poland 2050 remains faithful to the principles of transparency, responsibility and protection of democratic standards – both in the state and in its own structures,” we read in the statement of the party's national board.
Monday's voting in the second round of the 2050 elections in Poland started after 16, was conducted online. It was supposed to end at 10 p.m., and the results were scheduled to be announced after that time. Okay. time. As of 11:30 p.m., however, they had still not been revealed. There was information in the media about irregularities during the vote, in which over 800 people were eligible.
During the night, the Polska 2050 press office announced that due to technical problems, the vote in the second round of elections for the chairman of the Polska 2050 party on January 12 was invalidated. The date for the second round will be set immediately by the party's National Council.
Five of its members originally ran for the leadership of the party after Szymon Hołownia. The first round was held on Saturday. In turn, on Saturday, January 17, the group's National Council was to be held in Warsaw, where the new leader's first official speech was planned. On the same day, the council was also to elect four members of the National Management Board from among all members of the National Council, which currently consists of 57 people.
Political scientist: Poland 2050 is a project that cannot be saved
Poland 2050 is no longer a project that cannot be saved, said political scientist Łukasz Młyńczyk in an interview with PAP. In his opinion, the victory of Paulina Hennig-Kloska in the elections for the party leader will accelerate the agony of the party, and the election of Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz will prolong it. Even Szymon Hołownia will not save the formation – he added.
On Monday night, due to technical problems, the vote in the second round of elections for the chairman of the Poland 2050 party was invalidated. The candidates for the position were: Minister of Funds and Regional Policy Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz and the head of the Ministry of Climate and Environment Paulina Hennig-Kloska. The Polish 2050 National Council is to decide on further steps regarding the elections on Friday.
According to political scientist, Dr. Hab. Łukasz Młyńczyk from the University of Warsaw, the situation around the 2050 elections in Poland is another event that does not add seriousness to this formation and can be talked about as a joke.
The PAP interlocutor reminds that Poland 2050 referred to the 21st century in its rhetoric, including: presented “Jaśmina” (the Polish 2050 application, the launch of which in 2021 was aimed at, among others, direct influence of citizens on the program and the most important decisions of the party – PAP), has the year 2050 in its name. – Today you can use a malicious joke that it was a project (of the party – PAP) for 2050 days – said Młyńczyk.
He believes that even if the party chairman is successfully elected, “there are only two scenarios with the same ending.” – If Paulina Hennig-Kloska won, the process of being absorbed by the Civic Coalition would be much faster – he said.
In turn, her rival, Katarzyna Pełczyńska-Nałęcz, who, according to media reports, is disliked by Donald Tusk, according to Młyńczyk, has energy and would probably like to continue the project. – However, I am afraid that this will only be a drift until the elections and before the elections everyone will leave it, wanting to be on the Civic Coalition's lists – he noted.
According to the political scientist, the Poland 2050 project can no longer be saved because “at no stage of its activity has it proven effective and has not gained credibility.”
This will not be changed by possible twists and turns, such as the re-election of Szymon Hołownia as party chairman; In his Tuesday conversation with journalists, the former Marshal of the Sejm did not rule out running for re-election as the head of Poland 2050.
– The hint of fascination with him has long since faded away, and people won't fall for the same. Hołownia himself, in my opinion, has learned enough about politics to know that Poland 2050 cannot be saved. Whoever comes there cannot succeed, said the political scientist.
In his opinion, if one wanted to save Poland 2050 in any way, “the sign and concept should be changed.” – It would have to be a completely new party, but there are probably neither funds nor people for that, said Młyńczyk. (PAP)
