A forgotten investment in a Polish resort is being launched after three decades

More than 30 years after the first plans appeared, a new gondola lift will be built in Krynica-Zdrój. The investment is to connect the spa center with the Czarny Potok housing estate. The PKL Group is responsible for implementation.
The mayor of Krynica-Zdrój, Piotr Ryba, announced on social media that key documents had been signed enabling the start of the investment. — On January 7, I granted the finality clause to the environmental decision for the gondola project that will connect the center of Krynica-Zdrój (Hala Lodowa) with Czarny Potok – wrote Ryba. As he emphasizes, this is an investment that will really change the communication and attractiveness of the city.
According to information provided by “Gazeta Krakowska”, the investment has already received a geological decision. Currently, all we have to do is wait for the building permit to be issued. The new attraction is intended not only for skiers, but also for tourists visiting the health resort all year round.
The plan to build a cable car was created in 1993. Its originator was Jan Golba, currently the mayor of Muszyna, who was then in charge of Krynica-Zdrój. Now, after 33 years, the project has a chance to be implemented, he writes dts24.pl portal.
The cable car is to run through the forest areas of Góra Krzyżowa to the station in Jaworzyna Krynicka, where the PKL Group already runs a ski resort. The start is planned near the Ice Hall.
In the 1990s, one gondola lift was built on Jaworzyna Krynicka (to Jaworzyna Krynicka), which significantly influenced the development of tourism in Krynica-Zdrój.
The project of its construction dates back to the 1960s. Construction finally started in the 1990s, and the cable car was commissioned in 1997. Since then, the gondola lift to Jaworzyna Krynicka is still the longest, although no longer the most modern, gondola lift in Poland.
