US President Donald Trump insisted on Thursday that the United States is doing “strong pressures” on Russia to end the Ukraine war and believes that Moscow would “concess”, accepting not occupying the entire neighboring country, AFP reports.
“We put a strong pressure on Russia,” said the US president of the reporters present in the White House Oval Office, where he received the Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Stoere.
Asked by a journalist what a concession has so far offered Moscow to reach a peace agreement, the Republican replied: “To cease the war.”
“Not to occupy the whole country,” he added, appreciating that this is a “big concession” from Russia.
Trump then stressed that “Ukraine must also want to conclude an agreement.”
A day ago, Donald Trump again had an angry exit to the Ukrainian leader Volodimir Zelenski, who accused this time of compromising peace negotiations by refusing to recognize the Russian sovereignty over the annexed Crimea.
The refusal of Kiev to accept the American terms to end the war triggered by Russia in February 2022 “will only extend the massacres,” warned the Republican billionaire, who has never recognized Russian responsibility for conflict.
