Moscow Spartak sued €2.5 million from the Dutch PSV. For the transfer of attacking midfielder Guus Thiel, whom the red-and-whites sold to Philips Sport Vereniging in 2022 for €3 million.
According to Mash, the payment was divided into two parts. The Dutch paid 1.5 million immediately. Another one and a half was to be paid in July 2023. The Eindhoven residents said that they could not transfer money to the account because of sanctions.
Spartak went to court and demanded to pay the remaining one and a half million. Plus – another million on top, as bonuses for the matches played by Thiel and PSV’s entry into the group stage of the Champions League. The meat producers got their way: PSV paid every penny.
