Earthquake in the Ukrainian services, head of the SBU resigns. Zelensky spoke out


The head of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU), General Vasyl Maluk, agreed to resign from his position. As reported by the Ukraińska Pravda website, the general's decision was preceded by a dispute with the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, who threatened to remove Maluk from his position.

Then, Volodymyr Zelensky officially announced the resignation of the head of the Security Service of Ukraine on social media. At the same time, he said that Wasyl Maluk would continue to operate within the SBU.
“I met with Vasyl Maluk. I thanked him for his combat service and suggested that he focus on this area,” Zelensky said. “We need more Ukrainian asymmetric operations against the occupier and the Russian state and better results in eliminating the enemy. This is where Vasyl is the strongest and this is what he will continue in the Security Service of Ukraine. I have entrusted Vasyl Malyuk with the task of making our asymmetric operations the strongest in the world,” he added.
The President emphasized that the necessary resources and political support had been provided for this task.
According to Zelensky, together with Maluk they also discussed potential candidates for the position of the new head of the Security Service of Ukraine. As previously reported by the Ukrainian media, the candidates for the new head of the SBU include the head of the Alfa Group, General Yevheni Khmara, and General Oleksandr Poklad.
